SLC Solicitors are an award winning commercial law firm, serving the property management sector. We work in partnership with our clients and know that by putting their interests first it helps us to build longstanding relationships based on trust.

The firm was founded in 2006 by Neil Shearing who acted as Principal Solicitor until March 2017. Neil fulfilled a very hands-on role within the business using his own experiences to fuel how he wanted SLC to act on behalf of clients.

Law firms had previously built a reputation of being high-cost to clients, spending more time focussing on fee-earning and billing than on the best interests of their clients. From the offset, Neil wanted to support those who had entrusted SLC with their business and opted to be paid primarily on performance and not on anticipated performance.

“No recovery no fee”

Much of SLC’s core business relates to debt recovery within the residential and commercial property sectors. A business suffering from bad and doubtful debts does not wish to make matters worse by increasing their losses with legal costs. Neil made the decision within SLC’s infancy to work under a conditional fee agreement, offering a service to clients with no upfront costs, placing the risk on SLC’s shoulders rather than their own.

In March 2017, SLC Solicitors merged with a Manchester based law firm Metamorph Law Limited. This took the 60 employees currently under the SLC umbrella up to nearly 200 as a combined group. SLC’s original Senior Management Team remain in force monitoring the day to day running of the firm and ensuring all matters are handled efficiently. Neil fulfils the position of Legal Services Consultant for the firm, assisting with the continuous development of the firm’s legal services. Following the merger, SLC Solicitors is able to offer clients corporate and private client legal services in addition to the ancillary property services that were readily available previously from our in-house team.

Our Ethos

SLC Solicitor’s property management ethos is to work as an extension to our clients, assisting with the management of an apartment block and helping wherever necessary our client the managing agent, the freeholder, the developer or the individual directors of a residents management company.

We understand cash flow is critical to the management of any apartment block and we appreciate that there are rarely any legitimate grounds for non-payment of service charges within a block that is managed the right way. We understand that the need for a quick and efficient service is paramount and we work hard each and every day to ensure our client receives the best service from SLC.
